11th Annual Nelson’s Ride
August 19, 2010
The 11th Annual Nelson’s Ride will take place at Stage Fort Park in Gloucester, MA on Sunday, August 22.
This memorial motorcycle ride is held every year in honor of a 19-year-old Essex man, Nelson Selig, who was killed in a motorcycle accident in May 2000.
Nelson’s Ride was started to help Selig’s widow, Felicia, raise college money for their two children, Nelson Jr. and Kristin. Once that was accomplished, in 2003, Felicia requested that the proceeds from the ride go to the Massachusetts Motorcyclists Survivor’s Fund.
More than 1,000 motorcyclists are expected to join the ride, which will go through Essex, Ipswich, Hamilton and Manchester.
Registration begins at 9:30 am at the park. Tickets are $15. Advance tickets, $10.
The ride kicks off at noon, with the first riders will start returning to the park around 1 pm. Afternoon entertainment includes bands, including Full Circle of Gloucester, a 50/50 raffle worth more than $500, bike games, and more.
Ride and raffle tickets may be purchased at Cycles 128 in Beverly; the Ipswich VFW; the Whittier Motel; Seacoast Cycles in Newburyport; Provanzano Law Offices in Peabody; Eric’s Auto Repair and Gypsy Cycles in Rowley; and Lister Insurance Agency in Medford.
