Biker Hero Saves Driver Trapped in Submerged SUV
July 30, 2009

July 30, 2009 – Victor, NY – Kelly Walsh and his wife were riding their motorcycles up to Sturgis through western NY when they decided to pull over and get a motel room due to rain. When they stopped at the motel though, Walsh noticed an SUV that was mostly submerged in a nearby pond.

The SUV from Rhode Island had rolled over and landed in the pond with the driver stuck inside. Walsh then swam out into the pond, managed to get the SUV door open, free the trapped driver, and swim him back to shore, according to published reports.

Police are not releasing the name of the SUV driver, but did tell the press that he has been charged with driving under the influence. Kelly Walsh, the biker that saved him however, has emerged as a true hero.

For those that think bikers are still only outlaws that bother drivers with their loud pipes, Kelly Walsh is just another example of how the biker community is more than just a tough-guy image.
