Bruce Rossmeyer’s Pompano Beach Harley Davidson Dealership Closes
March 29, 2010

I live in Pompano Beach, FL and whenever I need a Harley Davidson part or accessory, I call the Bruce Rossmeyer Pompano Beach Harley Davidson Dealership. The dealership is about 10 minutes from my house and on most days, I drive past it during my daily travels. It is a large, full service facility and it also provides field-training space for the local MSF Motorcycle Safety Training Course.

I called the Pompano location this week to see if they had screws for the saddlebag hinges of my Street Glide and they told me to come in and pick them up. When I arrived at the location, the parking lot was empty, the doors were locked, and the sign on the door stated the location is closed.

I called the number on the sign and I reached the Bruce Rossmeyer’s Ft. Lauderdale location. Apparently when I called the Pompano location, the call was routed to the Ft. Lauderdale location without alerting the caller.

As I spoke to the staff at the Ft. Lauderdale dealership, they were extremely polite and understanding about customer concerns regarding the closing of the Pompano Beach location. Many of the staff also expressed their thankfulness for being able to transfer to this new location instead of losing their jobs. Even though there seemed to be an overall sense of confusion at the location, my experience there was very good.

As for why the location closed, I could not get a solid answer from anyone. Perhaps the Rossmeyer locations are in poor financial shape due to the economy or perhaps the closing is related to the death of Bruce Rossmeyer last year. All I know is the Pompano Beach closing leaves a huge gap in the South Florida Harley dealership network and is a bad sign for the industry.

Hopefully, another dealer will step forward and buy the location and South Florida still have its comprehensive Harley dealer network back in place.

At least I was able to get the screws I needed even though I had to drive a little farther.

Yes, here (in Rossmeyer locations) we are in really poor financial shape due to the economy. On top of that dealers in Pompano Beach are closing their shop which formed a huge gap in the South Florida Harley dealership network and is a bad sign for the industry. But, I am looking forward to more Harley dealers to come forward and do business here.
