Florida biker invents therapeutic device after accident
July 29, 2009

Dan Carr, of Naples, Florida, is on the road to recovery, and helping others who are similarly situated, after a motorcycle accident last year that severely injured his right arm. According to the Collier Citizen newspaper, Carr was riding a Harley-Davidson on his way to a Home Depot when he was hit by a car.

Carr voiced what many bikers express after an accident – shock at being hit by a car that failed to see him riding on a well-lit, large bike. The force of the collision caused Carr to roll over the car and necessitated a Medflight trip to a trauma center.

A year later, the private pilot hopes to fly his plane again and is regaining use of his arm with the help of physical therapy and a therapeutic device he has invented. Carr’s “SMAL Wonder” is designed to prevent straining that can occur during rehabilitation exercises.
