Hampden Biker Killed in Sunday Crash
August 10, 2010
This weekend was especially deadly for motorcyclists. An East Falmouth man died in a motorcycle accident on Friday, while another Massachusetts motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Sunday afternoon in Hampden.
Hampden police released his name yesterday – Stephen R. Came, 57, of Hampden.
According to news reports, Came died almost instantly after his motorcycle struck a utility pole on Wilbraham Road near the intersection with Raymond Drive. Police news release said Came died before the emergency crews arrived at the scene.
MassLive reported that Came was travelling north on Wilbraham Road when the went off the road and crashed into the utility pole.
It is not yet clear what caused the crash, and there is no information on whether Came was wearing a helmet. Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
This is a tragic end to a Sunday afternoon ride, and we sincerely sympathize with Stephen Came’s family.
