Hogs on the High Seas Cruises the Caribbean
October 22, 2009

Bikers love to ride. That’s why biker rallies are so popular. All rally organizers have to do is come up with a half way decent reason to ride and sometimes thousands of bikers come out to participate. Bikers love the road, the feeling of riding their chromed out Harley, and the sense of being a rebel.

If this is all true, then why is it that one of the best biker rallies in the country does not involve riding a motorcycle or the open road?

Hogs on the High Seas has turned motorcycle rallies on their ear. This innovative twist to traditional motorcycle rallies takes the bike off the road and puts them on a cruise ship. Yes, a cruise ship. Although this event does not appear very ‘bikerish’, the organizers have done a great job with creating an entirely new type of event.

After retiring from their tool franchise in 2001, Debbie and Dean Anderson wanted to enjoy their joint love of motorcycles. After a short time, they discovered that attending motorcycle rallies was getting boring. It seemed that all of the major rallies were essentially the same event done in different locations.

Instead of complaining, the Andersons decided to do something about their growing boredom with traditional rallies. So, they decided to bring the best things about motorcycle rallies together with one of the most scenic, relaxing, and stunning rides of all.

As a result, Hogs on the High Seas High Seas Rally was born.

These annual cruises in November to the Caribbean bring together the best of motorcycle events; great people, great vendors, lots of giveaways, and lots of partying. These events also remove some of the major hassles of motorcycle rallies like bad weather, traffic, bike damage, potential theft, and travel problems. By having the event on a cruise ship, participants are able to make deeper personal friends with other bikers and with vendors.

Speaking of vendors, a few selected companies are invited to come to each cruise to sell their items. Primary vendors are obligated to give away at least $5000 and secondary vendors $1200 in merchandise. Some vendors give away prizes in excess of $15,000.

Here’s the bad news. The 2009 event is sold out. The good news is information for the 2010 event is posted on the Hogs on the High Seas website. If you are in the market for a different type of rally, this could be the one.
