Improving Your Motorcycle Safety Skills
July 4, 2009

It is a sad but unavoidable fact that motorcyclists are exposed to a greater level of risk when out on the roads than the drivers of other vehicles. For this reason, riders need to pay extra attention to basic motorcycle safety techniques in order to avoid motorcycle accidents and motorcycle injuries.

There are three basic principles all riders should follow, according to the Motorcycle Safety Foundation:

  • visibility on the road,
  • the wearing of protective gear, and
  • the maintenance of the right mindset while riding.

Each principle is fundamental for preventing a motorcycle injury whether you are an experienced rider or somebody that just got their first set of wheels. If all bikers follow these guidelines they may be able to reduce the rate of motorcycle fatalities.
