July 23, 2009
A New York man is in serious condition after a 17-year-old driver failed to yield and hit his motorcycle on Wednesday night. James Hayes, 66, was riding his bike at 10:00 p.m. when Erica Wilczynski turned into a parking lot and hit him with her car in the Whitesboro area.
Hayes was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica by emergency personnel. His condition was downgraded to “Serious” earlier today.
The teenage driver was cited with “Failure to Yield” and “Driving Past 9:00 p.m.,” which is a citation issued for someone who holds a junior license and fails to abide by the DMV regulations pertaining to that license.
