Michelin and Harley-Davidson Collaborate on Scorcher “31″ Tire

Michelin’s release of the Scorcher “31″ tire inaugurates a few firsts: It is the first co-branded tire from Michelin and Harley-Davidson, and it is the first exclusive Michelin original equipment fitment on Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
Previously, Harley-Davidson had approved select sizes of the Michelin Commander and Michelin Macadam 50 tires for use as replacements on its Sportster, Dyna, Softail, and Touring motorcycles.
The new Michelin Scorcher “31″ tire is being offered specifically as original equipment on three 2010 Harley-Davidson Dyna models: the Super Glide, the Super Glide Custom, and the Street Bob. It can also be fitted on a variety of 2006-2009 Dyna models, including the Low Rider. (The Low Rider does not have a 2010 model.)
According to Michelin, the Scorcher “31″ tire delivers superior performance in three key areas: grip, durability, and handling.
Grip improvements result from use of an exclusive deep-cut tread design and the latest generation of Michelin synthetic polymers, long mileage from the use of premium-quality rubber-compound components and an exclusive Michelin manufacturing process, increased handling and comfort from the use of aramid belts under the rear tread, which stabilize the contact patch, and polyester carcass piles.
The trademarks of both Michelin and Harley-Davidson adorn the sidewalls of the Michelin Scorcher “31″ and the signature logo of Harley-Davidson is carved into its shoulder. The new tire is available only at Harley-Davidson dealers.
Available beginning in 2007 after testing and validation by Harley-Davidson, the Michelin Macadam 50 rear only tire was made specifically for Dyna models, including certain Super Glide, Low Rider, Street Bob, and Wide Glide models. The Michelin Commander tires, for the front and the rear, fit a wider array of models, including certain Sportster, Softail, and Touring models. The Michelin Scorcher “31″ tire is available for the front and the rear.
