Motorcyclist killed when woman brakes for dog

A 21-year-old was killed in a motorcycle accident yesterday morning in Niles, Michigan, when his motorcycle ran into the back of a Toyota that has stopped to avoid hitting a dog in the road.

Betty Halasi, 70, and a passenger, were in the Toyota when it was struck from behind by a motorcycle driven by Stephen Maines of Niles. Maines was killed in the accident, and his passenger, a 16-year-old, suffered minor injuries. The accident took place at 9 a.m.

The force of the collision caused substantial damage to the Toyota which reportedly lost a bumper in the accident.
