Motorist rejects plea deal in fatal motorcycle accident

Alan Begin of Taftville, Connecticut, was killed and his passenger and girlfriend, Dawn Foisey, was seriously injured on July 5, 2008, when a drunk driver hit them in Norwich Connecticut. The driver, Eugene Parsons, had sideswiped another car on Route 2 before crashing his Pontiac Bonneville into Begin’s motorcycle at an intersection on Washington Street.
After the accident, Parsons was charged with multiple offenses, including:
- 2nd degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle
- 2nd degree assault with a motor vehicle
- Reckless driving
- Operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Failure to obey a traffic signal
According to an article in the Boston Globe, a plea deal was offered to Parsons but was rejected on Wednesday.
Dawn Foisey, 42, suffered broken bones, a punctured lung and lost a kidney after the crash that took the life of her 47-year-old boyfriend.
Parsons is currently in jail after failing to post $500,000 bond.
