Really Get to Know your Motorcycle this Winter
November 13, 2009
I ride a metric cruiser and I love my bike. Sure, I’d love to have a Harley Davidson Street Glide but for now, my Suzuki Marauder 1600 gets the job done. I’ve spent a fair amount of effort modifying my bike so when I pull up to a bike night or event, my bike always hold its own.
Fortunately, I live in South Florida and can ride all year long. But this winter, I plan on investing some time with my bike in a very different way. For riders in the frozen north, this might be a good way to keep your motorcycle enthusiasm warm during the winter riding break.
I plan on learning to do some of my own motorcycle maintenance and upgrades.
By no means am I a mechanic so this will be a challenge. Here’s my plan.
- Thoroughly read my owner manual
- Buy a motorcycle mechanic’s guide
- Buy a motorcycle lift
- Tinker
- Have a mechanic available who can give me guidance as needed
If you can’t ride this winter, doing some homework on your bike and learning some motorcycle DIY tricks will help pass the time and build excitement for the upcoming motorcycle riding season.
