Sturgis Motorcycle Rally – Aug 9

The 70th annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally started today. The most enthusiastic riders arrived over the weekend with thousands more swarming in from all over the U.S. Official attendance estimates for this year’s rally are between 500,000 and 750,000 people.

The Sturgis rally was first held in 1938, organized by the Jackpine Gypsies Motorcycle Club as a venue for racing and stunts. It has survived and thrived since then, continuing the tradition every year except for two years during World War II.
Today, the Sturgis rally is a world-famous event drawing an ever-growing number of motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the world.
