Although scheduled in December, Dayton Cyclefest is one of the best motorcycle events in the Midwest. The event has everything Harley, metric, motocross, ATV, vintage, or custom motorcycle owners would want to see under one roof.

December in Ohio does not conjure images of riding a custom cruiser or Harley down the highway at 70 mph. Even though the weather is cold, the Dayton Cyclefest event is hot!

This year’s Dayton Cyclefest Show and Expo will be December 4-6th at the Dayton Expo Center and the excitement is already beginning to build. This year, there will be more vendors, more exhibitors, and more custom builders than ever before.

Also this year, there will be over 50 exhibitors displaying bikes, motorcycle accessories, parts, motorcycle apparel, leather goods, trailers, and much more.

Among the custom builders will be the Detroit Bros. from Detroit, MI. They will be hosts of Discovery Channel’s new show, Motor City Motors, which will begin airing in early 2010. This event will also receive a visit from the Motorcycle Monster.

Whether you ride a vintage motorcycle, Harley, metric cruiser, or ATV, the Dayton Cyclefest will have something for you to upgrade or accessorize your machine. Don’t let the December weather discourage you. Just think of it as getting an early start to the 2010 riding season in Ohio.

Across the line, 9 new Harley-Davidson motorcycles are available for 2010, including 4 production bikes and 1 trike. According to Harley-Davidson, the 9 new models represent “the most expansive new-product introduction in the history of the Motor Company.”

If you are riding near Salem, New Hampshire you may see a couple of Harley-Davidsons enjoying the scenery alongside you, but don’t think about speeding — they may be cops.

The Salem Police department now has three Harley-Davidson motorcycles as their motorcycle unit, which lets the six motorcycle officers use the bikes 24 hours a day, year round.

The start-up costs for the motorcycle units are hefty, about $60,000 for bikes and training, but the Harleys were actually donated by a local business owner after the city’s previous motorcycle unit was disbanded several years ago.

Capt. Shawn Patten, who has spent the last 20 years riding sportbikes, commented that learning to ride a Harley was a completely new experience, “these are whole different animals than sports bikes.”
