The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is usually held in the first week of August in Sturgis, South Dakota, but the 70th anniversary of this event starts on the 9th of August this year.

The rally has been held every year, except for a few years in WW2, and the event draws hundreds of thousands riders and other motorcycle fans. 

Some of the rides that Sturgis bikers take every year include Needles Highway, Iron Mountain Road, the Wildlife Loop, Vanocker Canyon Road, Spearfish Canyon, and more.

According to reports, 65-year-old Murray Thompson was riding his motorcycle south on Broadwell Ave when his bike collided with a car driven by 16-year-old Nathaniel Pfeifer, who was attempting to turn from 18th Street onto Broadwell heading north.

Thompson was taken to St. Francis Medical Center with injuries that included cracked ribs, bruises, and road rash.

According to reports, Bell was thrown from his bike upon impact and pronounced dead at Westerly Hospital. The driver of the other vehicle, 49-year-old Angelo Urso was uninjured in the motorcycle accident.

No chagres have yet been filed and the motorcycle crash remains under investigation.

According to reports, Veltri was driving behind the motorcycle around 10 a.m. and attempted to pass the bike, striking it  in the process. The motorcycle then tipped over, left the road, and slid down a hill. Gerald and Helga Wilkins were both ejected from the motorcycle. Both were wearing helmets.

Wilkins was found unconscious by emergency crews and was taken along with his wife to Seattle Hospital. Gerald Wilkins died from injuries sustained during the crash. Helga was injured, but information is not being released about her current condition.

According to reports, the motorcyclist was riding south on Route 5 when the biker struck a guardrail on the off-ramp. Although the biker was wearing a helmet at the time of the motorcycle crash, police believe he died due to severe head injuries.

The motorcycle accident is still under investigation.

The semi-truck, driven by James Edward Cornelious, of Arkansas, reportedly made the unsafe lane change to make room for traffic that was merging onto the highway from an on-ramp. Cornelious was arrested and booked into the Grayson County Jail and charged with “criminally negligent homicide” after the accident.

The motorcyclist, John David Cox, of Denison, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

According to published reports, the motorcycle accident took place around 7:35 a.m. as Sanangelo was riding north on Route 67 when a sedan being driven by 50-year-old Richard Zanesky pulled out in front of her, causing the crash. Sanangelo was ejected from her bike upon impact and taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for treatment.

Zanesky was cited by local authorities for failing to yield at an intersection.

According to the Berkshire Eagle, the couple was traveling on a road known for its dangerous curve when Ruckus lost control of the bike in a turn. The Honda CBR 600 hit a ditch and Ruckus and Brady were thrown from the bike.

Both driver and passenger suffered leg injuries and were transported to Fairview Hospital before being moved to Berkshire Medical Center to undergo surgery.

According to the news article online, Shannon Brady is in stable condition following the accident. Michael Ruckus has been charged with speeding.

According to reports, Kirouaca was riding his 2001 Harley-Davidson when the biker collided with a Chevy Camaro being driven by 20-year-old Jacob Reed on Route 202 at Lockhouse Road.

Kirouaca was taken to Noble Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Reed and the other passengers in his car were not injured in the crash.

According to reports, 51-year-old Scott Suchovsky was riding his 2004 Honda on Perimeter Road when he collided with a tractor-trailer driven by 50-year-old Charles Brown. Brown was not hurt in the accident.

After the crash, Suchovsky was taken to Elliot Hospital. Police are still investigating the cause of the motorcycle accident.
