July 24, 2009

A township supervisor was injured in a motorcycle crash in Amity, Pennsylvania, yesterday morning. The crash took place around 10:45 a.m. when a pickup truck drove into the path of the motorcycle.

Richard Gokey, Amity Township Supervisor, was riding a 1999 Triumph Adventurer motorcycle when a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado driven by David Moyer, 48, pulled into Gokey’s path.

The 59-year-old reportedly attempted to avoid the collision but in doing so lost control of his motorcycle and was thrown over the handle bars and slid beneath the truck. Fire department personnel responded to the crash and removed the man from under the truck and then transported him to Reading Hospital. Gokey had a helmet on at the time of the accident. Injuries were not reported by the Mercury.
