Wait until after Bike Week To Buy Motorcycle Accessories
February 19, 2010

The general purpose of biker events is to meet other bikers. The ability to meet people from around your local area and across the country is an important part of being a biker. The more people you know, the better your experience will be. You’ll be able to go more places and have a greater chance of running into a familiar face.

Another important part of biker events is showing off. One of the best ways to make a good impression is to have a killer bike. That way, bikers are walking up to you to ask you how you created your bike. Having a cool bike is important too.

Daytona Bike Week is coming up in a few weeks and many bikers are rushing to have some last minute work done to their bikes; myself included. I recently went to one of my favorite motorcycle accessory stores and got some great advice that I’d like to pass along.

The guys at Demons Cycle in Pompano Beach, FL told me not to buy anything until after Daytona Beach Bike Week. Imagine that; a motorcycle store that encouraged me not to buy anything from them.

I was in the store considering some raked triple trees or a new front end for my Harley Street Glide and the sales guy asked me if I planned on going to Daytona Bike Week. When I told him yes, he looked at me and said ‘why the hell are you in here now.”

He told me that when I go to bike week, I’m going to see bikes that will give me all sorts of ideas for my bike. He said it will be better to wait because the suggestions will come from people who can give firsthand advice based on their experience.

He was right. So, I thanked him for his time and left the store. Even though my bike will not be exactly the way I want it for Bike Week, I’m confident that very soon afterward I will have all the information I need to achieve the look and performance I want.
