When Riding, Stay Off the Damn Phone
December 17, 2009
There are lots of people who hate bikers.
Some people hate bikers because they do wheelies and other motorcycle stunts on the expressway. Some people hate bikers because they weave in and out of traffic going 50 MPH above the speed limit. Some other people hate bikers because of their loud motorcycle pipes.
I certainly don’t hate bikers (after all, I am one) but I certainly understand why some people do. Let’s face it, guys who ride like idiots are upsetting. When I drive in my car, bikers scare me to death when they drive past me going in excess of 140 MPH. And even loud pipes can be annoying at times; especially after midnight.
The craziest thing I have seen are bikers talking on the phone at the stop lights and even sending text messages. Are you kidding me?
Distracted motorists are dangerous but distracted bikers have to be the worst people on the road. Even at stop lights, it is 100% inappropriate to talk on the phone or text. Bikers who do not pay attention to traffic may find themselves in the hospital.
Do me a favor. Wait until you arrive at your destination before you play with your phone. Bikers don’t need a worse reputation.
